Our Passion for Nonprofit and CSR Communications
We partner with several purpose-driven brands with missions to shift societal norms and create greater access to health care – from addressing period parity with CVS and overcoming women’s health stigmas with Qvin to driving awareness of cancer research advancements with Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Kaplow is passionate about bringing the important messages of mission-driven brands and nonprofits to the forefront, from life-changing diseases like cancer (Cancer+Careers, Breast Cancer Research Foundation), to the global water crisis (Blue Planet Run), to racial justice and equity (Target’s REACH initiative, The Association of National Advertiser’s Alliance for Inclusive and Multicultural Marketing (AIMM) ANA’s Alliance for Multicultural Marketing).
At the core, our communications strategies for mission-driven brands and nonprofits center around the power of knowledge. We provide access to research, data, expert advice, educational events and more to empower and educate the media and consumers. Additionally, Kaplow works with diversity and inclusivity consultants who work across all business units and impart insight for strategic counsel, inclusive ideation, representation matters and issues management.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
Our passion for purpose and mission-driven work doesn’t stop with our clients. Kaplow is highly committed to the principle of equal opportunities for all employees. Our own mission to increase equality within the PR industry is embodied through Kaplow’s DEIB Taskforce, an internal committee that fosters educational, hiring, training and collaborative interagency opportunities for diversity and inclusion.
Kaplow’s DEIB Taskforce piloted a program to establish relationships at HBCUs to increase diversity in the PR industry. It also hosts interactive training sessions, including mock-interview training with seniors from Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications.
Kaplow’s Roadmap for Change
In 2022, New York Women in Communications and Kaplow Communications launched the “Roadmap for Change” (RFC) initiative, in response to the long-standing lack of diversity in the communications profession. The evolving program is aimed at increasing opportunities within the communications sectors for members of historically excluded groups, and providing an example for other companies to follow. Insights from NYWICI partner company inclusivity initiatives and continuing research into workplace DEIB best practices also inform the nascent initiative. The hope is that this collaborative process will make it easier for other agencies and brands to adapt the Roadmap for Change (RFC) to their own workplaces.
